I was walking through the Common today on my way home from work, and it came to me that tomorrow will probably be the last peaceful day in Boston for the next week. Unless you have been living under a rock for the past week you’ll know that the Bruins will be playing the Canadiens in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Because I hail from Chicago, I’m more into the Detroit/Chicago rivalry. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Original 6 matchups, but I have not lived in this region long enough to appreciate the hatred these two teams have for each other. With that being said, I’m a die-hard Bruins fan, and I have had the opportunity to witness the Montreal/Boston rivalry first hand in last year’s Game 6. I’ve been hooked ever since. Now that I’m a season ticket holder, I feel a little more ownership in the team, and thus the rivalry. When the final days of the season were dwindling down, I was hoping we would pull the Canadiens first round, just because of the atmosphere in the Garden, and the history between the two teams. Sure, the Rangers would have been cool, but there is something about New York fans that rubs me the wrong way. Although Canadien fans are probably much worse, it’s my lack of the French language that probably guards me from their verbal taunts.
But, let me get back to the original reason I wrote this post. This weekend we have a few huge events. For 1, the Boston Marathon is on Monday, that brings in thousands of people into the city. 2, the Red Sox are home this weekend, not that it makes a huge difference, but that will keep people around. Finally, the B’s play the Habs Thursday and Saturday, but I don’t think you quite understand the significance of this event. The B’s/Habs series will complete the trifecta of anarchy here in my adopted city. The Sox fans will be mouthy, but tolerable, the Marathon guests mind their own business and go about their tourist way, however, nothing will be able to compete with the mouthiness that is about to invade the city: Canadien Fans. Starting Wednesday you’ll see a sea of Habs jerseys, tight jeans, white shoes, and probably “european carry-alls” roaming the city. You’ll know them by a terrible accent, utter disregard for the well-being and comfort of other tourists, groves of these people in Fanieul Hall, and of course you’ll be able to hear them all over the city screaming and blowing those stupid horns you’d expect to hear at a Manchester United game. Finally, this entire package will be wrapped in a cloud of European type arrogance, smuggness and entitlement you can only find 5 hours due North. Of course, this all adds to the atmosphere that creates and continues this great rivalry, so I guess I can appreciate it for a weekend.
So, Canadien fans, considering you’re probably packing your painter’s jeans and Puma racing shoes right now, please consider this a request from Loge 19 to pack a few other choice items. Considering I’m going to have to tolerate you for the next 5 days, and 120 game minutes this weekend, I want you to bring along a few select items I found on 25Stanley.com today.
Most notably:
If you Habs fans have any manners you’ll consider this a “house warming” gift for your hosts. (Feel free to pack some poutin as well.)
These pictures, along with many more, can be found at 25Stanley.com
This series will be lucky to go 5 games. The Euro Habs with their weird V neck t shirts and capris pants are simply too soft to play with the B’s. Those Queebs want no part of physical one on one battles down low and the bruins should be able to cycle the puck at will. Those pussies will be diving all over the ice trying to draw penalties like European soccer players. It will feel so nice to ruin their 100th season. And when the B’s do eliminate the Habs, the city of Boston won’t riot over beating an 8 seed like those frost backs did last year. Boston is coming in scorching hot, while the Canadiens are a disjointed mess in every facet of the game; from the coaching carousel, to the purse snatchers, to the Russian mob, to Markov’s injury, to Sergei Kostitsyn’s head, this season has been an unmitigated disaster for them.
Sacrebleu……B’s in Four!!!!
Remember, sucker, that one of your famous player is Patrice Bergeron and he is from Quebec and speak French. Oh and it’s not everybody that wear those horrible shoes (Puma) and the fucking V-Neck. The problem with the American, is that you love your country and nothing else. And that’s the reason that nobody like America! Of course, it has exceptions but you’re not.
Oh and, do you speak French? Or spanish? No?
We do speak French and English (with or without accent, doesn’t matter), just a proof of our intelligence!
Habs will beat your ”monkeys on skate” Bruins.
HA HA HA HA. You dumbass! was Bergeron “euro” when he won the game for you guys against the habs? Is Claude Julien womanly when he has led you guys to one of your best seasons in history?
Sure you guys are heavy favorites but this type of post is proof that we are in your heads. Bruins fans have a pathetic inferiority complex which is understandable considering the habs have just dominated you in the playoffs. I’m not blind to the advantages the Bruins have coming in but the fact that the Boston team/fans/press seem to be overcompensating is giving me a glimmer of hope. Posts like this just show how fragile your psyche is. Just like Tim Thomas you guys are SHOOK.
GO HABS GO! ONLY FANS IN THE NHL THAT ARE REAL. NO ONE ELSE HAS TRAVELING SUPPORT.
By the way you stupid fat ass! The half of your team are Canadiens just take a look at their team roster !! How About Bergeron and Savard ?If you hate canadiens and french canadiens it means that you’re haiting your own team lol !! What a fan here… Get over it montreal won last year and guess what!! Same thing for this year GO HABS GO !!!
You know you’ve made it big when you’re getting shout outs in another language:
Merci aux gens de chez loge19.com, un sité dédié aux Bruins, de m’avoir envoyé le lien du vidéo: http://hubhockey.com/
The frogs’ arrogance combined with the chowdaheads’ cockyness is going to make for a very interesting and entertaining atmosphere all weekend long, wish I was there.
Love the chatter on this post so far. loge69 put it best: “the frog’s arrogance combined with the chowdaheads’ cockyness”.
Any Habs fans out there know of the Trans Quebec Motel on right across the bridge from downtown montreal?? My favorite place to stay when I pay a friendly visit to my nieghbors to the north!
we’ll see who still laughs in a week or two !!! with tanguay and latendresse in our line up, (wich were injuried for a big part of the year) we’ll beat the shit out of you, + weber does a pretty good job at replacing markov + most of our games against B’s were played before the aquisition of Schneider and before kovalev woke up after beeing an healthy scratch
Montreal will win the cup for its 100th anniversary and a 25th banner will hang in the famous rafters of the bell center
PS. I’m putting this page in my favorites, just to come back in two weeks and tell you how fuckin right I was about my predictions
Nick, thanks for stopping in. I look foward to hearing from you in two weeks….
any of you guys playing in the tourney at the tre glace outside of Montreal in August?
Hey Everyone,
I’m a Habs fan and admit Boston has a formidable team. Let’s just stop slandering races and languages, it’s just un-cool.
That being said, whomever comes out of this series will be banged up, and undoubtedly, there will be tons of injuries. It wouldn’t surprise me to see a suspension, big scrums, and lots of chirping between Komi and Lucic.
To finalize, Boston has suffered enough in the hands of the Canadiens, and it’s shaping up to be their year… for once. If Boston loses, it would be a disaster for the franchise.
“I’m a Habs fan and admit Boston has a formidable team. Let’s just stop slandering races and languages, it’s just un-cool. ”
Finally, a few words of wisdom…I agree, we’re all hockey fans here…
Loge19 – I never knew you had your own site. I’ll now be a regular visitor (just to get my hockey fix and off the stool).
the habs cannot play with the bruins they are outskilled and outmanned physically last season the habs may have been the better team but the bruins toughness made it a series..the candiens do not have the grit to drag this series out i’d say 5 games is a safe pick….p.s”your gaaaaay your gay your gay your gay, your gaaaaaaay your gaaay”
Wow, you are smart!!!! (sarcasm!)
Jeez you guys are a pretty sensative bunch. Give it right back to me if you can. Stop crying and tell me you think bostonians have a funny accent, tell me you think we are drunks or obnoxious, tell me you dont like my neck tie. I do not hate french people or french canadians, i was simply running some friendly smack about canadiens fans, and voicing my opinion about how i think the series will play out, and trying to generate some chatter. I never once said i hate french canadians.
For those of you who do think the habs will take the series why do you think this? What are the reasons behind this. Bring something to the table. If you disagree with my assesment that the bruins are too tough for the habs and will win the majority of the one on one battles tell me why you disagree. And NICK, stop acting like Latendresse and Tanguay are going to put you over the top. You make it seem like Its Maurice Richard and Larry Robinson coming back…..take it easy! I will be looking foward to hearing from you after the series.
And JOAN, for the record…..I speak 2 languages and am a citizen of America as well as Ireland.
You come from Ireland? My family too.
Well, you are right on some point. I say Habs in 6 but very very hard. I will always take for Habs. But I know that Boston have the advantage. There’s some player in our team that I don’t like. We have Tanguay, Lapierre, Schneider, Gorges, Kostopoulos, Latendresse and you have the Big Chara, Krejci, Savard, Bergeron. You have a big team. But I think it’s going to be difficult for both. Anyway, I take for Habs all the way!
PS: The only thing I hate about the B’s fans is that you’re always against our accent and our language (and clothes, as if we all wearr the same kind of clothing!).
Joan-
“PS: The only thing I hate about the B’s fans is that you’re always against our accent and our language (and clothes, as if we all wearr the same kind of clothing!)”
Come on! This is a lay-up for you….Boston accents have to be the worst in North America!
It is spring, the weather gets warmer, time to file our taxes, Montreal kicks the Bruins asses in the NHL playoffs. Same old same old. Gets a bit boring, really.
OH HELLS NO! First of all like many others have said, a huge part of the Boston Bruins players are Canadians. And , french canadians at that. I mean if you’re gonna start talking about something, better get your facts straight. Calling french canadians, frogs? That’s very respectful of you, and not racist at all! Anywho, I won’t sink to your level and just wish you a good defeat. Enjoy watching REAL hockey bud.
Hey Sam…I know a lot of the B’s players are Canadian, some French Canadian, what’s the problem? Chris Higgins is American, so when you make fun of Americans you’re doing the same thing. Furthermore, I never called the Canadiens or Canadians “frogs”, so check your facts before calling me a racist, bud.
You’re insulting them, that’s the problem. When did I make fun of Americans? Maybe you didn’t but one of your fellow readers did. Plus, we might have an accent, but hey at least we’re billingual.
Sam, first of all you need to chill out. Re-read my post, I respect the rivalry, it’s all in good fun. I wasn’t born into this rivalry, I was adopted by it. I know you have an accent, but come on, Bostonians have the worst accent of them all, come back with that! You’re bilingual? Great, so am I (spanish)! So where does that put us? You’re a Habs fan, I’m a Bruins/Hawks fan. OK, we’re back in the same place discussing hockey. Tell me Thomas sucks and Price is better because Price has better fundamentals. Plus, where do you get off calling someone a racist when I never made a racist comment? Where would this rivalry be without some good-natured ribbing. Sure there are some idiots out there shooting off at the mouth, but in general this is what creates the rivalry…and as I said, I appreciate it…If the going back and forth didn’t exist and fans couldn’t be civil, the would call the NHL the NBA…
Oh yea, and to come clean, I think the Habs throwback jersey with all the stripes are one of the top 3 jerseys of the year, next to the Winter Classic Detroit and Chicago Jerseys…
Well, I have held my tongue all day but I can do so no longer……
That is the most ridiculous comment on this post yet! those jerseys are TERRIBLE. I thought I was going to have a seizure watching that game. It looked like a bunch of barber shop poles on skates!
disclaimer: Sorry if I offended any French-Canadian Barbers. Judging from the comments above the F-Cs are pretty sensitive.
GO B’s!!!
Bruins Sucks
Habs Rocks
GO HABS GO !
Nothing else to say!
Concise and to the point. Thank you for stating your opinion and not crying about every little thing…
But yeah many comments on here were racist and homophobic. I would say the original post was of bad taste. Frogs is considered by most to be a racist slur and it is generally unacceptable thing to say in this day and age.
I honestly couldn’t give a shit about Bostonian hockey fans. They just seem to be fake bandwagoners like Ottawa fans or most American cities the fact that the Habs can regularly fill up an another original six franchise’s arena is pathetic. I’m not going to start insulting people’s accent because it has nothing to do with hockey and I don’t see the point. I am also a life long Celtics fan so it would be hypocritical. It’s a great city with a lot to offer (a part from rational hockey fans it seems).
I predict a much more competitive series than the pundits expect but still giving the edge to Boston. I also wouldn’t be surprised if the habs pull out another miracle victory à la 2002 and 2004.
hey big baby, thanks for the comment.
Can someone please tell me where in my post I said “frogs”. I knew what I was doing when I posted this, to get a rise out of people. But there are certain boundaries I will not cross. Tell me where I made a racist comment and I will apologize. People need to relax a little bit and not be so sensitive.
And the post was in bad taste? When did ice-hockey become figure skating? This is the oldest rivalry in the NHL, come on! From now on I’ll be sure to write fair and balanced posts. But first I want people to check their facts prior to calling me racist for using a term I never used. If anything, that is in bad taste. I said I appreciated the rivalry and all that it brings.
But yes, I think it’s going to be a very competitive series that I cannot wait for to start. And if you want to see real bandwagon fans, last year’s Celts championship run is the epitomy of bandwagon (also see Red Sox and Patriots).
I said the blog post was in bad taste and that many comments were racist and homophobic. Maybe we are a bit on edge but it’s from experience. My friends (they were girls) went to Boston for a playoff game and they got hurled abuse that went much further than the jersey they were wearing. I shudder to think at how those situations would have ended up had I been there (probably getting my ass kicked for not taking it).
Yeah the Celtics thing was/is annoying. I have stuck with them since the early 90’s but everybody assumed I was just a bandwagoner, whatever. NBA playoffs are much less stressful for me.
Well I don’t doubt some of your friends that came here were verbally abused. It’s a bunch of animals that live here and go to the games. I’ll be the first to admit that B’s fans are not the most welcoming, and typically the comments are not warranted. I had a Hawks t-shirt on for the B’s/Hawks game (as a B’s season ticket holder) and I caught a lot of shit for it, even though I kept my mouth shut.
The post in bad taste? nah, just getting into the rivalry/I think it’s funny because both sides don’t like each other solely based on loyalty. But if this was an NHL is better than any other sport rivalry, we’d all be best friends. So you’re a Celtics fan from Canada? Or did you live in Boston at one time?
My dad came to North America from Scotland and he’s a huge Glasgow Celtic (soccer team that also wear green) fan. He saw a Celtics jersey in a store and thought it was awesome and bought it. He had no idea they existed and it made him feel less homesick. That jersey became mine in like 91 and from then on they were my basketball team.
well you know what? you cannot blame that….may the best team win
wow you guys need to relax. even people in new york don’t get this fired up. it’s a simple post talking shit about the candadiens, and not a good one at that. not even talking shit, just pointing out funny observations. you canadien fans bring it upon youselves to get laughed at. you cry at the littlest things, like a nerd on the playground. grow up…the canadiens sell more tickets at away stadiums? hardly, look at MSG, it’s all ranger fans, idiots. grow up and watch the game with some pride. if you have something to say, back it up with facts, not just stupid comments about nothing. and i agree kid, dont call someone a racist for the hell of it. i didnt see you refer to canadians in a racist manner at all. but yes, they do wear terrible clothing.
rangers in 5
MSG(along with Minnesota) is an exception in the American NHL markets. This year we did it in Boston, Tampa, Ottawa (big time) and Long Island.
I’ve got no hate for the blueshirts though. I love Avery.
I can’t wait this game to be started…I’m not gonna brag about bruins or whatever…It’s still gonna be the best 1st round in all nhl!!
GO HABS GO!!!! If we can bring home a one simple game at the garden..mtl in 6
A couple of years ago, I was at the Bell Center watching a season game between Montreal and Boston. All around me, there were 30-40 Bostons fans wearing Bruins caps and jerseys. They were so loud, drunk, obnoxious and crude that my 9 year old son got scared. I am not talking about 20 year old guys but mostly 40-50 year old men. Anyhow, one man noticed that my son got uncomfortable being surrounded by the mob. He went to the store and bought a cap and a Canadiens jersey and gave them to my son apologizing for the rest of the crowd. I was very surprised. We ended up talking and I was honest and told him that I thought the Bruins fans were a bit loud and obnoxious and he agreed with me. We can be competitors and have rivalry without trashing each other’s culture.
We are from different culture…hell we don’t even get along with the other provinces inside our own country. But I love being a french canadian, having a european air and being bilingual. I love Boston…been there a hundred times…..BUT there is other cultures than the American. Different doesn’t necessary means wrong or lower or stupid. Americans broaden your horizon and taste other cultures….you may end up liking it.
Now about hockey…I would love to see the canadiens win BUT I am smart enough to know it will be very very difficult to accomplish. Chara is the type of player we all love to hate but we would welcome him on our team anytime. Lucic I have to say, I don’t really like so I won’t comment. I love Thomas only because he is not your typical goalie and still have success. Your coach is good (of course, he learned his hockey in Montreal) and well your team is stronger this year. Now having said all this, I still pray that Montreal will win the serie and send you home with your tail between your legs.
my bet was Bruins in 4.
Hope coach Julien will keep this team as intense as they can play.
Quebec girls are gorgeous, hot!
what about chicks from Boston ?

Here’s my reply.
1.The Boston Bruins fans, especially the blondes, do not know how an escalator works.
2. When they are too drunk, they try to pee on our head. Just ask Walter Cutler.
3. Their organization does not understand that a hockey game without beer is boring. 25 years or older to order a beer at the Garden, is a little bit pathetic.
4. Michael Ryder is a moron who pushed Chris Higgins to party constantly.
5. The goalkeeper from the Providence Bruins, Tuukka Rask, has a serious short temper problem.
6. Tim Thomas mourns in a small lump in his bed before every game against the Canadiens.
7. Although the Bruins fans hate us, they still want to hook up with our beautiful French ladies.
8. When they laugh at Quebecers, they forget they also make fun of one of their best player, Patrice Bergeron.
9. Their national anthem singer, Rene Rancourt is so tired of seeing the Bruins lose in series that he has decided to quit his job.
10. Claude Julien looks like the Humpty Dumpty man
Par for the course Jeff…..another classless sore loser from Montreal. Fuck you!
Amazing web page. Lots of useful details the following. I am mailing it to a couple close friends ans in addition discussing around delightful. Of course, many thanks for the sweat!
Quite informative lens.
