For Sale: 1 Bruins Season Ticket, Great Seats, Terrible Team and Management

Chuck Kobasew

What’s going on at the TD Garden? Well I know what’s not going on, winning. The B’s drop another one to soon-to-be homeless Phoenix after stomping Dallas 3-0. Where is the consistency? And then, they go and trade slumping Chuck Kobasew to Minnesota for “rights” to sign forward Alexander Fallstrom and forward Craig Weller, and the Wild’s 2011 second round draft pick. So let me get this sorted out, the B’s were going to deal Kobasew in the off season so they could sign Kessel, they don’t, instead the get draft picks, Kessel goes to Toronto and now we get rid of Kobasew for some potentially signed forwards and a draft pick. Chiarelli, how many picks do you want? You’re picking up draft picks like they are dot-com stock shares in the late 90’s.

B’s drop another one…

BruinsSo there has been a lot of chatter about the B’s coverage on the Loge. Yes, as Clark Dub has said there are Whalers blogs that have been updated more frequently than the B’s blog….good one, have fun golfing in April. Yes, I know the B’s coverage has been soft, Commish was just promoted and the Kiiiiid is now in B-school so time to have fun has been short, but we have not been slacking on the B’s watching. So, for those of you who do not know, the B’s look like dog poo, tonight they dropped their third of the season to the Avs to drop to 2-3 on the season. The B’s now stand third in the division and 10th in the Eastern Conference. A big deal? NO. But I don’t like it and I’m not happy with them. The Bruins are not doing what they should, tonight they went down 2-0 early in the first and no one wanted to drop the buckets and stand up for the team. Why not? I don’t know, maybe Thorton’s purse was too heavy or Lucic didn’t have his dose of cranberry juice this weekend. Yes, I’m calling out town favorite Milan, if he wants to feed me my lunch, by all means, atleast I know he can still throw a punch, sissy.

Bruins lock up Lucic

milan lucicLooks like Lucic will be picking up the tab a little more often these days. The Bruins announced yesterday that they signed the power forward to a 3 year contract extension that will keep him in a B’s uniform until the 2012-13 season. More from Fluto at Boston.com:

Lucic will earn $4 million in each of 2010-11 and 2011-12, and $4.25 million in 2012-13. Lucic, currently on his entry-level contract, is making a base salary of $685,000 this year. He will get a 484 percent raise next season.

Lucic’s $4,033,333 annual cap hit will make him the fourth-highest-paid Bruin behind Zdeno Chara ($7.5 million), Tim Thomas ($5 million), and Patrice Bergeron ($4.75 million). It is a lofty number for a player once cut by his Junior A team and not selected in the WHL bantam draft, but an appropriate price to pay for one of the league’s up-and-coming studs. Lucic’s status was reaffirmed this summer when he was invited to Team Canada’s Olympic orientation camp.

Commish’s take:

Definitely a great move buy Chiarelli. A good amount of people will question the cap hit for Lucic over the next three years. $4m is a hefty price for a 21 year old kid with an ugly stride and only 17 goals last year. However Lucic’s ‘hit first, ask questions later’ mentality along with his hardworking nature and other intangibles made resigning him a must for the Bruins. Looks like everyone can go out and buy a Lucic jersey now without worrying about where he will be over the next 3 years.

Not an excuse but…

Boston Globe beat-writers are reporting that a number of Bruins were pretty banged up for much of their Stanley Cup Playoff run. Boston Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli has reported that Phil Kessel and David Krejci will both undergo surgery this offseason. Kessel will have shoulder surgery on Thursday to repair a torn rotator cuff and labrum and Krejci will have hip surgery sometime next month. Both are expected to miss the start training camp this summer. There are also a number of other injuries that are now being reported by the team.

“There’s a variety of injuries we had throughout the course of the playoffs,” said Chiarelli this afternoon. “Every team has injuries. But we seemed to have a few more than other teams. I have to hand it to the players for playing through those injuries.”

Boston Loses Game 7; 3-2 in OT

Not much to say about tonight. Boston took it on the chin with a 3-2 OT loss. Ironically Walker with the OT goal. I really don’t want to go over the game right now, nor do I care, I wish the B’s had played better. But from what I did see, Boston had 35 shots blocked or miss the net. Among the entire team, Boston had THIRTY FIVE SHOTS BLOCKED OR MISS THE NET. In a Game 7 that goes to OT, give me 5 shots that hit the net, and I’ll show you a game that ends in regulation. And for a team to get 36 shots on goal for the entire game, that’s terrible. Not to mention that Boston had 4 PP chances to Carolina’s 2. But, I’m not going to dwell on this, I need to go to bed and sleep it off.

Either way, rest assured a few things. For one, don’t tune away from Loge19.com, we’re going to continue covering the NHL playoffs. Although give us the weekend, I don’t think much will be posted. Second, I’m looking forward to another Bruins season in a few months. Third, lets go Blackhawks, I think they may do it.

Boston Bruins Force A Game 7

Game 7 Here We Come!

First off I want to apologize for those of you who visited this morning looking for the Game 6 recap. Last night I was too tired to create a recap and Commissionerdangle needed his beauty rest, and trust me, he needs all he can get. As for the rest of the day, here is my mini rant, some of you may get some enjoyment out of it. On Friday I’m leaving for New York City, New Jersey actually, for my girlfriend’s sister’s wedding. Because of that, I have about 2 weeks of work to do in 4 days. I literally have 47 projects that need to be completed before I take off Thursday night. Here’s where the comedy comes in, on top of that I need to make my own travel arrangements to Red Bank New Jersey. See, I’m not leaving with my girlfriend tonight to go to the wedding. I told her I’m missing her sister’s rehersal dinner in order to go to Game 7. If any of you saw fireworks in Boston last night, it wasn’t the Fourth of July. It was me deciding to watch the Bruins Game 7 at the Garden Thursday night, instead of head to the Garden State. Now I’m taking a 6:30am Mega Bus, Friday morning, to some corner in New York City, walking 6 blocks to Penn Station, taking a train to Red Bank, NJ, and somehow making it to the wedding by 4:30pm. Mind you, I don’t know where the wedding is at, the hotel, or the reception. If you think the Bruins have pressure tomorrow night, call me around 3pm Friday and see where I’m at.  Continue reading ‘Boston Bruins Force A Game 7’

My Take On The Scott Walker Fine

As a Bruins fan I am utterly disappointed in the leagues ruling this afternoon to fine Scott Walker a mere $2,500 for his cheap shot on Aaron Ward late in the third period of Game 5 Sunday night. I guess though what I am more pissed off about is the blatant inconsistency in rulings on disciplinary action that Collin Campbell has dolled out this post season.
