“Oh Girl”

Urban Dictionary:  Dangles

In hockey, when a player makes a move around the D by moving (dangling) the puck around one side of the D and skating around the D the other way, meeting up with the puck and lighting up a SNIPESHOW

And here is a video for the top 5 shootout dangles of the year……………enjoy

New York Rangers seem to be back on track

The New York Rangers played one of their best games of the season last night and it could not have happened at a better time. Going into the game the Rangers were just two points ahead of the Florida Panthers and in desperate need of a win and in desperate need to play more consistent hockey.  The Blueshirts came out strong in the first period, but did their best work in the second scoring three goals and getting the best of, Martin Brodeur. This win puts the Rangers in great shape in terms of a play-off berth, but they must keep playing great hockey to finish the regular season.

The Rangers will travel to Carolina Thursday to play the well rested  Hurricanes who have not played since Saturday.

Hit of the Week 3/30

or

I’m going to designate Tuesdays as “Hit of the Week” day. Therefore, in this week’s “Hit of the Week” I’m between Boston’s Wideman laying out LA’s Westgarth or Chicago’s Campbell flattening Edmonton’s Nilsson. Campbell flat out railed Nilsson, however Wideman’s hit was text book defense as he held the blue line. Although Campbell did step up in the neutral zone.

“The Shift”

Since Boston.com did an in-depth article today about hometown hero Milan Lucic there has been a lot of talk about “The Shift”. This video was taken during the WHL finals  around this time 2 years ago. It features Milan Lucic running wreaking havoc for Medicine Hat as his Vancouver Giants went on to take the WHL title. Some say this shift alone defined his junior career and propelled him straight into the NHL.

Upsets, overtimes, and video reviews…the 2009 NCAA road to the Frozen Four Part 2 HIGHLIGHTS UPDATE

frozenfourlogo

As promised (albeit a little late),  here are the Midwest and Northeast Regional recaps.  Just like the East and West Regionals, the MW and NE were filled with exciting games, and last second heroics.  Before I get into the recaps, I want to say a quick something about ESPNU’s production over the weekend.  I’ll start by saying I wish the NHL was still under contract with ESPN!  The commentators and analysts ESPN gets are the best in the business, and I guess that is why ESPN is the best in the business (even though hockey gets ZERO play…you can’t fault them for reporting what the people want).  They always show replays, and usually have great camera angles/views.  It was good to see Barry “The Mullet” Melrose (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs2007/news/story?id=2834375) back in action; after his brief return to coaching “barry’d” the Tampa Bay Lightning’s season (haha, thought of that on my own, no big deal).   Anyway, onto what you came here for, Regional recaps.

NHL Fight of the Week-3/30

To start off my “… of the Week” series I’m going to designate Monday as “Fight of the Week”. Why Monday? Well it’s typically the day you want tickle someones ivories because you’re not quite ready for the weekend to be over yet. Initially I was going to go with the Vancouver Canucks vs. Chicago Blackhawks line brawls, but commissionerdangle already used that in his NHL Links post. For one, I don’t want to double post, it’s bad form, and two, the commish beat me to it. I’d like to note though, there is nothing like a good line brawl to spark an old-school hockey nostalgic feeling.
