Top Goals of the 2008-2009 Season

Happy Friday, lets cap off the week with the top 10 goals of the ’08-’09 season. While I think some goals are more deserving than others, goal #5 has to be my favorite, especially considering what Hagman had to endure that shift.

The Night Maxime Talbot Called My Friend A *****

Maxime Talbot

CommissionerDangle sent this story to me awhile ago but I forgot to post it, so here it is. It’s a long story the Commish found on hockeyfights.com but it’s worth the read. It’s basically the account of some Hurricane’s fan run in with the Penguins while they were in town for the Eastern Conference Finals this season. Below you can find the text of the story, here is the link to the original.

My Run-In With the Pittsburgh Penguins

Hey guys, I’m sure most of you Pittsburgh guys have seen some of your players around town but Sunday night here in Raleigh I saw a couple of them out and it proved to be a very interesting time. I thought some of the boys here would appreciate a tale like this but couldn’t find the proper place to post it so I figured here would be as good a place as any. I swear that every word of this story is 100% true. It is titled “Penguins Bar Story” or “The Night Maxime Talbot called my friend a p*ssy”. Anyways on with the show….

Top Hits of the 2008-2009 NHL Season

I’m going to go with the top hits of the ’08-’09 season because metaphorically that’s what the kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid’s going through today. Because I am getting RAILROADED with work right now…enjoy the video, I have not been able to watch it yet.

By the way, I was walking past Tresca last night on my way home from work, and outside they had pictures of local Bruins players, autographed, with a note like “Thanks for the great food, Milan Lucic”. I was thinking, if I ate at Tresca or Lucca or whatever, I wonder if they would post a picture of me sitting in my cube working, an action shot of course, with a little note. I think it would be pretty cool, my only concern is that someone would try and steal it to make a few bucks by selling it on eBay.

OK, I had a chance to watch the video, and I think I can align my day really well with hit #4 or #2. Here’s why, as for hit #4, here I am thinking I’m  making a pretty good play today, I put the puck on net (finish off some projects) and then BAAAAAAAAAAM, I get blindsided and my sh*t goes everywhere….as for hit #2, here I am going through my day going to make some moves, get the puck deep, yea I know I’m going to get rubbed out, but whatever. Next thing you know the GD turnbuckle shows its face and picking my chicklets up off the ice (translated to I’m trying to cruise out of here, under the radar, I’ll probably have some things to do, and then BOOM, I get my clock cleaned by some project I didn’t anticipate).

Truer Words Never Spoken

Adam Burish

So a quick two part post on this hot and muggy Wednesday afternoon. First, puckdaddy over at Yahoo! has repoprted that six teams will have alternative/additional looks this season. The coolest of which has to be the Chicago Blackhawks, who will be sporting their Winter Classic jerseys as the third jersey instead of the all black third jersey.

Top Saves of the 2008-2009 Season

In day two of our best of, lets look at some of the better saves this season. Although I don’t like this highlite as much because half of these saves would have been avoided if the goalies would have stayed in position. However, nothing beats a goalie more effectively than shooting low toe!

Top Shoot-Out Goals of 2008-2009

The NHL came out with its “Top 10 _____ of the Season” collaboration, and it’s pretty good. Lets start today off with the top shoot-out goals of the season. Number one is definitely worthy.

So Long Per-Johan

PJ Axelsson

Boston.com is reporting that today marks the end of the road for long time Bruin PJ Axelsson. After playing all 797 of his NHL games wearing the spoked B, Axelsson will head back to his native country of Sweden to play for his former pro team, Frolunda, of the Swedish Elite League. Axelsson, who was a free agent starting July 1, was not offered an extension by the Bruins after his contract expired. This should not come to much of a surprise as there was speculation by all parties invovled that PJ would not be part of the 2010 team. This non-move by the Bruins to sign Axelsson comes in a long line of moves the B’s have made this off-season, that is changing the face of the team.
