Game one of a possible eight.

Saturday’s “original six” tilt between the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins could be a preview of a possible first round match-up between these East Conference foes. The puck drops at 1:00 PM on NESN and MSG+ (MSG+ translates to me having to watch the NESN broadcast on mute). Continue reading ‘Game one of a possible eight.’

“Salad” Night in Philly

salad-pic

Forget the famous Philly Cheesesteak we want a salad!!!!  Now isn’t this just classic hockey player fun…………to have a whole night dedicated to yourself for having the “best salad” on your team and most likely the league, now that deserves a pat on the back.  Last night the Flyers faced off against the Panthers in a “Scotty Hartnell Wig Giveaway Night,” now the bad part about this night is that you had to be under 14 in order to get one.  Let’s be honest, no 14 year old is going to utilize this wig effectively.  This wig is meant to be used when you’re near blackout at a party with all of your buddies and trying to get a laugh out of the ladies so you can rope one in late night.  Perhaps, if you’re like some of us here at the Loge, you’ll even find some shampoo late night with your lady friend to wash that wig with!!

Florida’s Horton Legitimizes Fighting in the NHL

A quick note before I meet up with commissionerdangle for some lunch. This was a fight from last night, and the prime example why fighting is necessary in hockey. It holds people accountable for their actions. After Maxim Afinogenov scored an empty-netter to seal the 5-3 victory for Buffalo, Florida’s Horton cheap shots Afinogenov. It’s to bad Ballard had to stick up for Horton and fight tough guy Rivet, but it happens. It goes to show that attempts to injure star players will not be tolerated in the NHL. There are immediate consequences, and issues are dealt with on the ice. I’m sure some suspensions and/or fines will stem from this battle. Horton better be buying steak dinners for Ballard for the rest of the season considering Ballard had to deal with the judge, jury, and executioner otherwise known as Craig Rivet. Rivet, one of the most stand-up captains in the league, loves the rought stuff and I would not like to meet him in a dark alley…Buffalo is one team that has some bruisers that are not afraid to stick up for their teammates….proven in 2007’s line brawl with Ottawa.

Heads up for a great piece on Hartnell from The Freshness around 2pm today.
