My New Favorite Player, and Post-Game Beverage

Laraque got in trouble for this commercial he put out, I’m over it, I think he might be too…. Also, well played by Georges, he didn’t know what the ad’s script was and he agreed to do it because the money went to charity. People, it’s for charity, what’s the huge deal?

From the Ventura County Star

NHL tough guy Georges Laraque of the Montreal Canadiens apologized after appearing in an advertisement that violates NHL rules regarding alcohol.

The ad for an alcoholic beverage called Octane. 7.0 shows Laraque playing street hockey with several scantily clad women, and it has drawn the ire of the NHL and some women’s groups.

The league’s collective bargaining agreement states no player can sponsor or endorse an alcoholic beverage.

Laraque said he had no idea what the ad’s script was when he arrived for the television shoot and that he only agreed to do it because it offered a lucrative payday for charity.
