The $1 Million Question………..Ovie or Crosby??

ovie-cros1

After watching tonight’s amazing show down of two of the game’s hottest all-stars, I have to see where Loge fans stand on the age old question of who the better hockey player is??  Crosby or Ovechkin!!  Each player has their own unique style which differs greatly from the other in my opinion.  I am not biased to either one of these two young stars because I think they bring tremendous passion and excitement to the game of hockey and each player is pretty much the best thing that has happened to their respective organizations in a really long time.  I will say this though………if you are looking for an all around hockey player that plays both ends of the ice well, then I’d say Crosby is the better of the two.  But, on the other hand, Ovie’s unparalleled “wear your heart on your sleeve” passion and uncanny ability to score clutch game changing goals, along with the capability to rise his team’s emotions and ability single handedly; makes him a priceless competitor that is unmatched, offensively, by anybody in the league.  So, Loge fans, who do you choose?

Crosby’s Career Regular Season Stats:

GP – 290

Goals – 132

Assists – 265

Points – 397

PIM – 285

Game Winners – 16

Ovie’s Career Regular Season Stats:

GP – 324

Goals – 219

Assists – 201

Points – 420

PIM – 216

Game Winners – 34

Crosby’s Career Playoff Stats:

 GP – 33

G – 17

A – 27

Points – 44

PIM – 24

GW – 2

Stanley Cups – 0

Ovie’s Career Playoff Stats:

GP – 16

G – 11

A – 9

Points – 20

PIM – 2

GW – 3

Stanley Cups – 0

Will one of these two win a cup this year?

Since we’ve already gone over this ad nauseum, how bout some bruins coverage?

Here is some Bruins coverage for you Chief:

Bruins lost on Sunday. They don’t play for another day. Series tied 1-1. Savard went to CVS in the North End last night to get his favorite hair gel before going down to Carolina.

On another note, since this is an NHL blog:
The two best players in the game last night faced off and each scored a hat trick!!! Pretty amazing stuff.

I’m sorry Sugarsean maybe the only channel you subscribe to is NESN but here at the Loge we like to indulge in other amazing feats such as watching two of the best in the NHL each score a hat trick then blog about who is the best. Now, you can whine about the non-Bruins coverage two days after game 2 or you can give us some valuable insight as to who you think the best in the show is.

Well I remember a similar post from last week. But more valuable in my opinion is Sid the Kid. He does more defensively than ovechkin and is a better passer especially in small areas. He does more that does not show up on the score sheet. With that said Ovechkin is more exciting for many reasons and at this point in time more important to the NHL than Sid the Kid.

      hey LPsnipa6,

If you didn’t think Crosby was the biggest bitch in the NHL (as voted on by the players) here is some back up info for you:

Reporter asked him what he was talking to the refs about after Ovie’s hat trick. Here is what he had to say:

‘”People kept throwing hats,” Sidney Crosby said tonight. “I was just asking if he could make an announcement to ask them to stop. I mean, the first wave came and then I think they were all pretty much picked up, and then more started coming. So for us, we just wanted to make sure we kept kind of moving and kept the game going, wanted to try to get back in it. So wasn’t complaining about anything.”‘

Translation: “mom the older guys are picking on me can you call their moms and tell them to stoooooop’

      -bitch-

Couldn’t agree more Comish. LPSnipa6 needs to get his head out of his ass. Crosby is a bitch. There is no way around it.

As much as I agree that this is a blog about the nhl and not just NESN and the Bruins. I am pretty sure I saw this same exact post last week on the Loge.

Actually seeing how he is the captain that sounds like a legitimate thing to do. As a team you don’t want to have to sit for as long as they did. Obviously, like he said the initial rush is fine but they kept coming after most were cleaned up. Meaning the fans were acting like idiots. Throw them at the right time or don’t throw them. A simple announcement is not a ridiculous thing to ask for. I bet you the coach asked him to do it also. I bet you got picked on as a kid there dangle.

If you don’t like the Hats don’t give up a Hatrick. Right Comish?

      May 5, 2009 at 11:13 AM

it’s beyond ridiculous!!! It’s tradition to throw a hat for a hattrick, not to mention his first, and his third goal ended up being the game winner.

      Worst argument ever.

Hey LPSnipa, next time the Yankees have a curtain call at that new shit-hole in the Bronx, I hope the other team goes to the umpire and asks them to make an announcement to stop clapping after a certain amount of time so that the other team’s pitcher can start throwing. Because the team doesn’t want it’s starting pitcher standing on the mound too long….right??

Oh my god. The noise level at a baseball does not affect when the game can resume like the hats on the ice. I am no way shape or form saying that throwing hats on the ice for a hat trick is a bad thing. All I am saying is that often as we know retard fans continue to throw hats after the show is over and the originals have been cleaned up. This is a bad thing because it prevents the game from continuing. The noise level at a baseball does not. Like I said before throw the hats at the right time or don’t throw them. Whoever watched that game last night undoubtedly got a little restless. Imagine being on the bench. I bet the cap players wanted to finish the game out also instead of just sitting there.

LP, you’re acting like late hats being thrown on the ice is a chronic problem in the nhl. I can’t remember the last time I ever noticed late hats being thrown, it certainly wasn’t last night. When i heard Crosby’s bitching on sportscenter this morning I almost spit out the waist watchers shake i was drinking, it was ridiculous and made him sound like, or rather reinforced the fact that he is, a bitch ninny.

Your argument here has more holes in it than your game does, be a man and own up to the fact that you’re wrong and Crosby is a bigger diva than Lady Gaga.

      Ovechkin.

  8. May 5, 2009 at 11:35 AM

Thanks pat & LP, this post has been up here atleast 3 other times. Freshness, everyone has already given you valuable insight on this topic the other times it has been posted. And since these 2 are the only hockey players ESPN covers we have been exhausted with the Crosby vs. Ovie comparisons. Also, Im pretty sure every blogger on this site has posted this article atleast once.

Commish and Fresh dont act like the reason you dont post any B’s blogs is becasue they are off until tomorrow….even on game days, and days after games, the bruins coverage has been piss poor. Last friday after a great B’s playoff win you had some shit about huddler up there for the next 3 days and never had a B’s recap. This is a website run by Bruins season ticket holders is it not? Unfortunatly this blog is turning into http://www.Ovechkin.com. I guess we’ll have to wait until the B’s play Ovechkin until there is some regular B’s coverage.

Subscirbe to NESN huh Fresh? Drive your fan base away…nice. Freshness if you are going to post this shit you might want to atleast mention the fact that both guys had a hat trick in the blog. Nice journalism skills you Piker.

      May 5, 2009 at 12:13 PM

      hahahaha. Piker.

Come on, I had a recap of game 2 about an hr after the game:
      http://loge19.com/2009/05/03/carolina-rides-cam-ward-to-game-2-win/

Let’s give credit where credit is due here.

Also, being a Bruins season ticket holder means going to the game, drinking at the game, going out and drinking more after the game and being hung over the next day. None of that is conducive to sitting in front of a computer or writing.

LP, there was about 6 minutes left in a vicious game 2. I am pretty sure those guys could use a breather at that point. Crosby was just mad because he only had 2 goals at the point and Ovie had scored 3.

  9. May 5, 2009 at 11:50 AM

I have to admit that the sugar man is right on here. Does anyone else find it incredibly ironic that someone would choose the screen name “freshness” when the stuff they post is the furthest thing from fresh?

  10. May 5, 2009 at 1:29 PM

There was no recap of game 1, but the recap of game 2 was much appreciated commish.

Alright everyone calm down this is only blogging we’re getting fired up about here. My intentions were to see where everyone stood in the Loge on who the best player in the league was. I understand Pat had written a post earlier about the two facing off before the series even started and I apologive for the redundancy on Loge19 from a Crosby, Ovechkin standpoint. Sugarsean if you read the post it wasn’t intended to be a recap of last night’s game hence why I didn’t mention anything about the hat tricks you plug. I also recall that you didn’t mention anything about who the better of the two was in Pat’s post. Now, I understand you’re a Bruins fan and are looking for Bruins updates, and those will come, but don’t start bitching because we’re covering the NHL’s finest.

Two of the best young players are facing off in a intense playoff series, you’re obviously going to hear and see a lot about them, it’s inevitable. And to top it off, I still don’t know who you think the best player is and why?

  12. May 5, 2009 at 3:14 PM

agreed commish, id actually even rather have malkin than sid.

  13. 22 freshness19
    May 5, 2009 at 3:43 PM

Yeah, Malkin has done a ton this series.

  14. 23 LPsnipa6
    May 5, 2009 at 4:22 PM

Sugarsean you are a complete idiot. Malkin over Sid. Malkin is a pussy he has done shit in the series. Get your head checked.

  15. 24 commissionerdangle
    May 5, 2009 at 4:38 PM

    LPsnipa! getting personal…

Malkin = MIA in this series so far.

  16. May 5, 2009 at 5:08 PM

LP, your the one that is basing Malkin’s entire career on 2 playoff games you fucking donkey. Look at the guys numbers for the last 2 seasons…they are freaking mind blowing. He carried that team last year when crosby was hurt.
Malkin has 11 points in the playoffs compared to Sids 12 so go fuck yourself. He had more goals and more assists than crosby did during the reg season both this year and last year( granted crosby was hurt last year).

You make it seam like what i said was so outlandish. If I need to get my head checked, then why is Malkin a hart trophy finalist this year and Crosby is not. Apparently the rest of the Hockey Writers Association should get there heads checked too.

So dont ask the question about who is better crosby or Ovie then berate me when i say malkin is a better player than corsby you fucking faggot. IF you disagree fine, but dont act like what i said was completely nuts.

    Fuck Off

    May 5, 2009 at 8:26 PM

haha, the comments on this post have a little bit of everything. Some personal attacks here, a couple curse words there, some nonsense posts and some solid posting. I like it.
Anyway, I have to lean towards LP here with the hat throwing argument. First off, Crosby is a bitch, I hate the guy. Buuuut, with that being said, it is Crosby’s job as captain to converse with the refs about things like that…buuut, the refs should have already made that call upstairs before he even asked. According the official NHL rule book, rule 63.4, when objects are thrown on the ice during a stoppage (including after a goal), the referee shall have announced over the public address system that any further occurences will result in a bench minor penalty to the home team. Goal was scored, hats were thrown (and picked up), then stragglers started throwing more hats like a$$holes. Seems like a delay of game penalty to me. Now hat throwing after a hat trick is undoubtedly one of the best traditions/fan interactions in all of sports, but obviously Crosby and the penguins felt the warning should have been announced; and when it wasnt, crosby did what captains do, talk to the refs. Let’s not confuse crosby asking the refs about something of this nature, with crosby complaining to the refs about a penalty against him not being called or some other sissy shit…which he does do ALL THE TIME, and is half the reason why i think he is a bitch.

commish, that baseball analogy might have been one of the worst analogies i have ever heard…you usually bring it way better than that.

    • 29 commissionerdangle
      May 5, 2009 at 8:58 PM

Coach, disagree on the baseball analogy. It was amazing and totally relevant.

Agree on the rule, BUT Crosby is known as THE biggest complainer in the NHL. Here is your proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3atOIUzMb0 <that video will shut up LPSnipa faster than an olympic toboggan run!

So, Crosby goes and reinforces the the widely held stereotype of him by complaining to the refs about an extra 2 minute rest in the third period! (when the Penguins later called a time out to rest their players). THEN, Crosby goes and tells the media after the game that he was whining to the refs. Come on? If that isn’t T-ing up a softball for the media and every hockey blogger in the world, I don’t know what is.

You can make all the excuses you want about how he was ‘justified as a captain’ and that ‘it was in the rule book’. But the bottom line is that, if anything, he is guilty of not helping out his own cause by giving some great material to NHL players, the media and LOGE 19 – all of whom think he is the biggest bitch in the NHL!

    May 5, 2009 at 9:32 PM

Fans clapping and cheering has no bearing on whether a pitcher can pitch the ball or not. However, fans throwing hats on the ice does cause play to be stopped/delayed because you CAN’T play with objects all over the ice…explain to me how those two circumstances are the same? anyways, never said he was “justified as a captain” i just said its his job AS captain to confront refs about instances like that. obviously its easy to jump all over him for it because of his history, but the circumstance was different than his norm; thats all i was trying to say. My honest opinion is that the ref failed to do his job, as it is clearly stated in the rule book that he is suppossed to make the call upstairs. that is all. either way, caps won, 2-0 series lead, and this series is FAR from over…nuff said.
