NESCAC Semi-Final Recap; Amherst to face Middlebury in NESCAC finals

 

 

 

 

 

Williams vs. Middlebury

In the first semifinal game that saw Williams play Middlebury, the Panthers pulled it out 4-1 behind strong goaltending from Doug Raeder and goals from unlikely sources.  Middlebury struck first midway through the first period on a excellent play from Lake Placid Native, Jamie McKenna.  The score remained that way until early in the second when the Ephs took advantage of Middlebury’s inability to break the puck out.  Middlebury’s Raeder then kept the score even by robbing a couple of point blank chances.  The third period saw Middlebury regain control of the game and put the game away with goals by Lenny Badeau and Tucker Donahue.  Badeau also added an empty net at the end to seal the game.
 
 Trinity vs. Amherst
In the second semi-final game, in which I only watched the third period, Amherst did what they have been doing all year by winning 3- 0 with timely scoring and great goaltending.  The rink was packed with both Trinity students and Amherst students so it was a great atmosphere.  It reminded of prep school games with alcohol.  One Trinity fan got handcuffed when he refused to leave the premises. 
 
Should be a great game today, and if Middlebury can find a way to score they will win a close one.
